Here’s to the people who argue on Internet.
We have all seen them. They are on comments in Youtube, Facebook, threads on Reddit, 4chan and everywhere on Internet where a textbox exists.
Like, many other people I believed these people were idiots. Why else would they argue with an absolute stranger on the Internet. But believe me, it is these people who keep the Internet alive. Hang with me for a moment here.
Internet is a large echo chamber by now. We have recommendation systems that exist only for reinforcing our belief systems, search engines that give results based on the sentiment of our query and of course algorithms we have no clue on that shows us our true friends. We even have systems that change the Internet according to what our interests are.
There are only one kind of people that can help you escape this echo chamber. They are the only people who will let you see what you don’t like.
They are the people who argue, those who are not afraid to shout their opinion to the world. People might not understand them, people might call them names as counter arguments. But thanks to them we have a counter argument to base the Expressivity of Internet on.
